March is National Craft Month!

By Diane · Comments (12)

Hi Doodler’s!

March is here … which means the first day of Spring is near and that means the return of warmer weather and a lot more sunshine! Monday, the 1st, kicked off National Craft Month – so celebrate by dusting off those half-finished digi stamp projects and get them done. For those of us who love to get crafty with digital stamps, vow to try a new crafting technique during National Craft Month, or perhaps you can teach someone how to digi stamp! Take in a class or two in your area or on line!

If you are looking to try your hand at templates to create boxes, bags, and an assortment of other projects just clicky on the word for a variety of FREE one’s to get you started. Try something different visit STAMPINGTON & Company magazine/site to add a bit of a twist to cards with mannequin style card making!

For those who don’t digi stamp, what better reason to start, then to begin with DZD Digital Stamps FRIDAY FREEBIE images. This image called, Hidiing Eggs, is available for a limited time only! Just click on the black & white image and right click on the enlarged image … in the drop down menu SAVE AS to your specified folder. Card project compliments of Glee C.

You can use this image in anything your heart desires and it can be printed out as much as you like – resized to fit your needs in your editing program!

Hi Doodler’s

The beginning of March is a day away and it’s hard to believe that we are already into the third month of this year … guess time flies when you’re having fun! If you are looking for “fun excuses” to celebrate the months of 2010 here are some PDF calendar pages for your enjoyment that can be print directly from the site or saved for later printing! However, there are five other calendar page designs to choose from.

Glee Colninger submitted this gorgeous project using our “Shot of Luck” image which is now available in the New Release category! The sentiment is from Quote Garden and works perfectly for this project!

The Copic Creations Technique Challenge  is still accepting projects … time to get your entry posted to their Mr. linky – deadline is Sunday, Febr 28th (12:00p.m. CST)! There are some wonderful entries using DZD images and various other images too!

Friday Freebie is a little late … as I said, time flies when you’re having fun … Firday came and went , and I wasn’t prepared … a “duh moment” for me. Then Saturday was just plain hecktick! So let me introduce you to our newest image member, Vanessa Fairy sitting on her mushroom (card is compliments of Glee C.)!  Was available for a limited time only and is now listed in the New Release category for purchase along with the other “fairy” images like her.

If you have a photo of a finished DZ Doodles digi stamp project please share examples of your work with others. You are welcome to include your blog address so people can learn about your crafts!

Have a happy papercrafting day! Diane :0)

One Image & Four Card Designs!

By Diane · Comments (0)

Hi Doodler’s!

Over the weekend while creating some card projects for Easter I accidentally-on-purpose came upon four ways to use the elements I created, using one simple image! And have to show-it-off! Of course playing around like this created more “decisions” for me in designing what I thought I had down pat! Which means -  be flexible in creating … some of the cutest designs can be stumbled upon!

I used Prismacolor Pencils to color the DZ Doodles digi image called, Eggs & Blossoms (sized: 4.008H x 4.011W in my CreateACard program) - “one” color pencil to each egg (PC934-Lavender-PC930-Magenta-PC942-Yellow Ochre), applying the color light to darker after first applying a light coat of Prismacolor PC1068-French Grey 10% as a base for blending purposes. The blossoms were also base colored with the PC1068 and the ”line” areas were lightly touched with colors PC1063-Cool Grey and PC906-Copenhagen Blue. All colors were gently blended using Prismacolor Colorless Blender PC1077!

After doing that I used a variety of itty-bitty acrylic stamps and Tuskineko Versa Magic Dew Drop Chalk Inks to stamp designs on each egg. I happened across a gal on eBay who sells Studio G Clear Stamps at a great value! They are so “cute”!

For many of you, especially those who are just starting out with digi stamps, you’ll love mixing your collection of “acrylic” stamp images (or rubber stamps) with DZ Doodles images. Ammiki Enterprise - eBay Seller: 941nmb has a terrific value on a neatly boxed assortment of acrylic blocks! Their varying block sizes can also be purchased seperately too! It is so nice to have all my blocks contained in one handy small carrying case and each case stacks nicely on a shelf or in a drawer!

Also, don’t forget to visit The Crop Stop Store for a variety of papercrafting or scrapbooking needs … Haylie-Jo carries a large assortment and offers terrific savings!

Have a happy papercrafting day! Diane :0)

 Hi Doodler’s!

Have you ever found yourself staring at your finished project, thinking to yourself … “is it done? I don’t want more embellishments … but it still looks kind of – flat.” This happens to me all the time. You see, I’m a minimalist at the core … you know the type of person that would prefer to have nothing on the kitchen counter than to display something either beautiful or functional! And I’ll admit that my projects are a bit that way too – clean, crisp, and relatively uncluttered … which is good, but sometimes requires a boost in order to receive crafting closure.

There’s a popular style found in creating dimension and style by shading – edges of paper, embelishments, even shading photographs! And you can do it with chalks, inks & distress inks, and with an assotment of tools.

Rosalien Z. shows off some of those techniques …

with one of our  images called, Bunny Eggsentiment and using todays Friday Freebie Egg Card Pattern - you can create the card size any size you’d like!

Just click on the line drawn image to enlarge – right click on the enlarged image and in the drop down menu click on SAVE AS to your computer digi folder. The image is then ready for you to use in your program!

We’re coming up on the basket reason-season’s …

with Easter fast approaching  and I just love what Paper Wishes has come up with, Basket Templates that are quick and easy, and a must have for any season! Just click on Basket Templates wording to view their fantastic webisode!

Copic Creations Techniques Challenge …

continues until Febr 28th (12:00p.m. CST). You still have plenty of time to enter one or more projects … not required, but hopefully you’ll use a DZ Doodles image on your project submission!

Some of my favorite places to shop ...

Have a happy papercraft day! Diane

Hi Doodler’s

Sorry everyone, had an emergency hospital stay of five days last week which pretty much left me feeling under-the-weather. So I didn’t get my personal Valentine projects done or anything to post for a Friday Freebie … and on that note, I’d like to stress that it’s a good idea to create your projects well in advance! It may sound silly to some, but we never think about the “unexpected” ever happening to us! The past couple of days I’ve been trying to re-energize my enthusiasm but the medications I’m on (for only a few more days) distorts my ability to draw. Hope to be back to my good ‘ol self soon! Thanks everyone for all your get well wishes, words of encouragement, and prayers!

I’m happy to announce that from now until Febr. 28th (12:00p.m. CST) all you Copic marker creator’s can participate in Copic Creations Techniques Challenge which DZ Doodles Digital Stamps is sponsoring - one lucky participant will receive a $25 DZD Gift Certificate along with 7 Kids College Fund four (4) Copic Sketch Markers of your choice. All the DT projects are made using Easter/Spring images from DZ Doodles (just click on “Copic Creations” to get to the details!). I will try to add more Easter/Spring images throughout the week so that there’s an even bigger selection of images to work with … so check back often, in the New Release category, to see what I’ve added!

So here’s a Freebie Image that I hope will spark participation! The colored project is a Copic marker card by Glee Cloninger who incorporated pen and ink curves & dot work on the eggs along with using a stamp set from Paper Trey Ink. I purposely left this image “blank” so that you could use your imagination on it! Everyone has their own idea of how an Easter egg should be decorated?!

Available now in the New Release Images category.

Everyone have fun! Can’t wait to see what you create … you can always email me your creation too!

Have a happy papercrafting day! Diane :0)
